(I'd stickwith the OEM gears. Best quality and price. No noise coming from my diff. after 7K miles.

I just got 4.56. The shop put OEM in the back and Precision up front because they said there are no OEM for the front. And yes gears are worth it. As others have stated, night and day difference.

I just called around to a few shops to check on the price to swap the gears. 300-380. Is that pricey or not?

Doesnt sound too bad. I paid 1800 for a 4wd with an eaton. Also ask if that includes new bearings.

I told them that I would be providing all of the parts and that cost was just for labor.

That is usually the labor rate. Add gears and fluids and whetever to that to give you a good idea. I just had my done with Strange/US Gears. I had the gears overnighted because I was need the truck back up. Freight was 70 and 6 hours of labor, parts, fluids. All in all, it was around 850.

That seems about right! If you can get it done for $300 that's very good. From my experience going from 3:42's to 3:73's I dindt feel any difference. You'll be more that happy with 4:10's in performance wise.
