I'd bet you could find a LS1 or 6.0 shortblock cheaper then a gear swap front an rear diff will add up unless you set the gears up yourself.

x10 on a good tranny cooler.

will a 6.0 swap right in and are my heads the same?

If its a 6.0 from a GMT900 truck, or I believe an LS2 will work also. Your heads should be the 243 castings, most 6.0s have 317 castings

find a 6.0 from a new truck in a junk yard... and use the heads/intake that are on it...
