My current truck " mods in sig" currently has stock 3:73 gears on a 33in tire and well ofcorse the low end sucks! i was thinking of going to a 4:30 gear? im gunna do a stall but i wanna save up and do tranny and stall at the same time so i dont have to pull it twice. would i notice much diff with those gears?

Some will say that you won't notice, but you will. Converter will make a big difference.

Those will be a nice gear, it should increase you RPM's by about 250 at cruising speeds. I have a tire about 32, and went from 3.73 to 4.56. I like it. I was thinking it would be too much at first, but it works real well.

I use a gear ratio calculator on my phone, and it has been faulty accurate so far.

I would say 4.30 with a converter would be ideal I went from 3.73 to 4.10 and I wish I would have went 4.30

I like to pick gears based on cruise RPM because my truck is mostly a commuter. These are for 33" tires and a 0.70 4th gear.

3.73 = 75mph @ 2000 rpm
4.30 = 65mph @ 2000 rpm
4.56 = 62mph @ 2000 rpm

You can check if my 3.73 number matches your truck. This is actual GPS speed, not what the speedo tells you which may be wrong if you haven't corrected it.

Another way to think of it is, with about a 33" tall tire and 4.30's you will be about 2 mph slower in OD with the converter locked up vs the stock 235/75/26's with 3.73's.

If it was me I would just go with 4.56. Your not gonna notice much if any loss of mpg between 4.30 and 4.56, and a little more gear never hurts. I had 4.54 and 33's for a long time and I loved it. I want to upgrade to 5.13's with my 35's. And when you get a converter youll really love it.
