Default Which gears and axel splilne size to support 1000 hp?

Planning a build up. What rearend do I need? Do I have to tub and do a fabricated 9" or is there a set of gears/axles that will be likely to hold up behind 1000 hp? I don't plan to get on it from the start.. only rolling starts.

14 Bolt Semifloater i would think

even a fab9 is not designed for the weight of a truck

Tubs are what you need for larger tires, not necessarily power handling. Two choices would be either a 14 Bolt Semi-Floater with Aftermarket Shafts and a Detroit Locker, or the 14 Bolt Full Floater with a 6 Lug conversion.

I am building the 14 FF with 6 lug conversion for my truck. OOFF TEH BEEF!!

14-bolt SF = 9.5" ring gear
14-bolt FF = 10.5" ring gear

I hate to keep saying it everytime a question of axles come up but Parish ran a 10.08 on hard launches with a stock axle that only had a heavy rear cover and an Eaton posi weighing 5000lbs.
An example of how much more stress the hard launch puts on the axle vs a roll: I snapped a stock axle with a 5000 rpm clutch dump and 400rwhp. Parish never snapped one with 1000+rwhp. I know some of his tq was shared with the front axle but in a hard launch situation I bet the front might have been taking 20% of the load.
IMO if all you want is rolling launches and not putting slicks on it and doing full power launches then a larger axle is a waste of money.
Also, Curtd went a 10.68 with a stock axle with eaton posi and heavy rear cover weighing 4500lbs and his is 2wd.

If you don't plan on putting big sticky slicks on it and taking it to the track, the stock rear end with a girdle will be fine, with that much power you will just blow the tires off.

Im making a little over 600rwhp and I stripped my ring gear on the street with slicks... I think with some serious hookage and power, its going to break eventually.

Depends on if you like to do upgrades or make repairs.

That's what I was wanting to hear and what I had planned on trying to do.

I just don't want to cut up the bed to tub it... although I like the bad *** looks of tubbing it So I might do it even if it's not smart. NOBODY ever accused me of being smart, especially when I make decisions that involve having FUN! Good grief!! I'll start gettilng Medicare in two weeks and I'm still basing decisions on having fun! I know that I "should" grow up but I also know that is unlikely to actually happen.

But if I tub it I"l have to get new wheels.. everything! Were talking another $10K here. Guess it won't be THAT much fun to tub it and maybe a 427 won't be THAT much more fun than a healthy, blown (and maybe juiced?) 408? Big difference in $$$$. I think. I haven't actually priced much stuff but I know that SD wants about $2500 more for a 427 sb than their 408 goes for... and that's just for starters.

I'm also not clear about what will bolt on to a 427. Will my heads work? How about headers? I know most everything from my 5.3 will work on a 408 and I "think" the same is true for a 427... but I haven't heard that for sure. How 'bout it?

A level 5 FLT is in the plan. Pretty much a sure thing even if I don't do any build at all.
