I was not willing to pay someone 400 to do something I thought I could do. If I could have got it done for 200 or less I would have. I realize somethings are not as easy as they seem but I enjoy the learning side of the work as well. We have a lot of great members here with good info and that is why I am not affriad to try before I pay. If all else fails I will end up bringing it to someone.

are you around houston? i know a guy who can get it done cheap. its awesome that your not afraid to jump in there but if its done wrong it will make excessive noise, and excessive heat and wear out/break faster. gotta get the carma perfect with rear ends. good luck with it.

I hear you there, trust me I wish someone else would have done it now. Since I have started I will try to complete it and if anything goes wrong I will have someone fix it. I do live about an hour and a half from houston.

Is it possible that you switched the carrier shims up from side to side? It sounds like the ring gear is too close to the pinion centerline, or vice versa. Since you're still using stock shims, that my be the culprit.

Also check to make sure the pinion bearing race is seated all the way in the housing. I'm sure you changed it right?

Where in Texas are you at? I would love to get 400 but I usually charge 150-200 for an install. And I am picky as hell, it will leave perfect or it won't leave at all.
