Default Given my goals, would a stall be a good idea?

I have been searching for days now on what converter I want to go with, but since I drive very conservitivly I am mostly concerned with driveablity. I normally keep it UNDER 1500 rpms, so I need a very mild stall. The most stall I am looking for is a 2600 stall (like the TT2600 yank), so don't bother trying to get me to go with a 3000 or larger, I am looking for just a little boost. I do a lot of stop and go driving and I would rather not spend most of my time above 2000 rpms. I pretty much never hit it from a stop and I have not even once since I've had my truck brake stalled my truck and then launched. My goals are something that with get my truck to rev up a little faster, raise my rpms in between shifts, and a converter that will pull harder top end wise so basically I am looking for something that with help me out from a roll (when my truck shifts into 3rd at 95, it falls FLAT on it's face.) I don't want or need something that has a high str and hits hard from a dig, but has nothing top end wise.

Also I found this thread while searching, and according to JSmith the 4.3Ls come with a 2000 rpm stall instead of the 1600 rpm stall. I was just wondering if this was true of not, because my dad has an 05 RCSS 4.3L and it seems like it wants to rev more that mine does. Here's the link (post # 11):

A stall will help get you moving, not any top end pull other then leeting it not drop as much between shifts. The real way to do it would be a stall, a tun, that would make a diff in your truck. Also if you hardly ever go above 2k how you know that your truck shifts out of 3rd at 95 hmmm hahahah. I think that would be fine if your looking for a lil boost.. Or look into a trail blazer verter.. Both of them you won't be able to tell that much DD, hell my 3200 seems stock to me now..

i would suggest getting a 9.5" converter and about a 2400 stall speed. the smaller diameter will rev quicker, i think i read the stocker on trucks is 14". 2400 stall speed should feel pretty much like stock

He said he shifts INTO 3rd at 95. Sounds like tall tires and 3.42s or short tires and 3.23s. I'm hitting right around 100mph at the top of 2nd gear according to the speedo with my 5.3L, stock 3L60E, 3.23, 245/70R17 tire combo.

It sounds like you need engine mods other than a converter. New valvesprings, higher ratio rockers, slightly longer duration camshaft, headers, cold air intake, etc.

The only way a torque converter would help your truck at 95MPH could be the shift extension or the fact that since it is physically several inches smaller in diameter, it will take a bunch of weight out of the drivetrain right at the engine. Get the tightest 9.5" or 10" converter you can. I'm sure the V6 or Trailblazer converters are still 12 inch diameter. They'll help off the line, but not at higher RPM.

I didn't see before that you had a cam already. What valvesprings do you currently have?

1.8 rockers would put you at .597" and 1.85s would put you at .614" lift. They would also make your cam seem a little bigger.

I don't see headers listed in your sig. If you don't have them, get them. Let that cammed engine breathe.
