Can anyone give me dimensions below for the late model 14 bolt AAM 10.5 ff used with the 6.0L HD truck.
What size are the brake line fittings on the later 2500HD 14 bolts, are they metric? The fitting from the axle to the frame?
Can I swap the metric wheel studs for the standard 14 bolt ff ones?
Are the hub diameters the same so I can run the wheels I have now that are under a 1985 14 bolt ff?
What size are the axle tubes for perches?
I have a 1985 14 bolt full floater with 4.56 gears and a Detroit locker under my IH truck. Pretty sure it needs a rebuild as it was blowing oil before I left to go back overseas. And I didn't have time to pull the cover. But I was in there when I did the swap in Nov and it wasn't to pretty as it looked like it had been hot before.
Any way I want disc brake and figured I could just swap in a late model AAM 10.5'' in it's place granted I know I have to redo the perches. And since I have to buy new gears and already have the Detroit and they inter change gear wise. I figured I could do the swap and gain disc brakes for cheaper than a disc brake swap on the older unit and have an decent e-brake as well.
Thanks I am trying to plan the swap out but I am 9000 miles from home in Afghanistan!!
