Default gmt900 trans options

im shootin for 450 rwhp out of my going to be cammed and nitrous 4.8. should i get a built trans now before put these things in? my thoughts are the trans will be worth more money working like it is now then needing a rebuild after i smoke it with the parts.

options:

4l60e flt lvl 4
performabuilt lvl 2 3?

6l80/90 swap not sure how much this is being the trans seem like a lot

4l80e runnin manual vb and floor shift

will a 4l60 handle the abuse and go the extra mile im lookin for.. 25k miles a year roughly. any thoughts on how much the 6l swap is and acually how good are those trans? 4l80 isnt direct swap for the gmt900 but with a fmvb would it be worth it?

thanks
mike

I'm a big fan of FLT. I LOVE my 6L80E in my Denali but that swap is much more complicated compared to a built 4L60. I had one on my 01 tahoe. I wasn't making 450HP but I towed a lot and beat on it a lot and it held up great for about 80K before I traded it in. I think with your HP goals, they can build a 4L60E that will hold up.

alright sounds good.. ive heard the nnbs trans were different then the earliers but didnt realize it was a full out 65e. i planned on a servo and hd2 but didnt want to have to pay for that again if i was just going to get a built trans 6 months down the road. i think ill give this one a shot and see what it takes.

ive heard nothing but good about flt but also considered performabuilt because they are about 2 hrs away from me. didnt know how much went into the 6l80 swap either

yeah you prob have the 4l65e like said above... i put down 463 at the wheels, my trans lasted a little under a 100 miles.. if your just gonna build a your current trans why not just put the cam and nitrous in.. and save money for a trans.. then when your stocker goes just get it built.. like i did... all up 2 you my friend..
