I don't see how he could make any money on a deal like that. Maybe if he charged for cores.

Picture of a trans on a tailgate of a pickup with a transgo sticker and a picture of some lifts in a small shop! Seems totally legit to me!

Plenty of great small trans shops around, but like the old saying, if it looks too good to be true it.....

I got 1100 in mine after putting almost new everything in it and paying the guy to do it. Including some tricks that most companies don't do. It's good to have a family member who builds trannys. It'll hold as much as one of those 3k dollar units. But anyways, yeah Idk how he makes money on these unless the core charge is high like said above.

A good core will be in the $300 range give or take. Parts for a nice mid level build would run in the $650- $700 range. Labor, shop supplies and taxes add up.

Most likely it is a trans-go kit with some nice soft parts.

Ask him if he machines it for roller bearings. Ask him if he replaces the sprags. Ask him what the clutch clearances are set at. Ask him where he sets the rear end play, and total end play (thrust). My point is, if your expectations aren't high then that's probably not a bad deal.

Good luck either way you go.

Gilbert,

How critical is rollerized bearings in a build? I guess you need to start looking at them at a certain power level?

That's his Rebuild parts and labor cost, you need to provide the core. He has had problems meeting his demand of 30-40 cores just for one customer. I have had one heck of a time find one as well here in Houston.

Price is $795 + your core Range from 400 - 600 depending on where you get it. If your lucky you can find a listed core from a random person for about 300
