Raybestos Blues with thick Kolene steels in the 3-4 pack would last 8-9 months for me, like clockwork. The red Altos made it about 3 weeks on the original build, and have never been used again.

This build recieved some sort of "drill mod" to the input drum, supposed to fix the 3-4 clutch issue, and Borg-Warner 3-4 pack.

I'll post up the findings. I think it might be the sunshell or sungear, or a broken band. He used the Alto wide band that I told him specifically NOT to use. I've had my best luck with the normal width carbonite band. I've replaced it with every build(bands are cheap), but it was never worn out.

I had a similar problem with my camaro.Turned out to be a broken lug in the shell.Roger, what kind of line pressure you runing on the down shift and upshift.Im positive that was my main problem when the trans broke.I mean the car would gain like 6-8mph on the 1-2 upshift alone. So I dropped the downshift upshift pressure closer to stock and switch the converter to a much higher stall and the new trans seems to hit the shifts crisp as opposed to a slam.

My tables are stock. I've always had both billet servos. But I know he said that he drilled the seperator plate for 2nd gear. It was a bit harsh shifting from 1st to 2nd with VERY light throttle, but felt quick & crisp from about 10% throttle angle or more. I have a pressure gauge at the shop, but never made time to put it on, too busy with customer cars.

Sorry man. Read Alto's are way over-rated, in my opinion.

5740 lbs with me in it, tool box full of junk, and 1/2 tank of gas. Truck has a full A/V system as well.

The shell goes on every mid-September, and comes off mid-March every year. The transmission takes a crap at all times of the year.
