80e's were not without their problems as well. They too need to be "built" to last under heavy abuse. I am currently running a reverse-manual valvebody 4l60 ( 700r4) and so far it has held up to everything I have thrown at it. It's been through many low 12 second passes and seen lots of kuhmo killing burn outs. I am suprised more people haven't done a similar swap. My truck started life as a 5-speed so I already had a nice hole to put my shifter through.
