Default Grinding nosie from rear diff

First off, int the diff the screw that holds the shaft in between the spider gears, broke and let the shaft fall out and hit the pinion gear while I was driving. I fixed that now there is a grinding noise from the rearend while I am on the gas. It sounds like a brake drum on a lathe. It does do it all the time. I am lost on ideas as to the problem. Any ideas?

No it is a GU6. 3:42 non-Locking. Replacing it is not financially possible at this time. I would like to fix what is wrong until I have the money to replace it all and put in the gears i want and a truetrac.

Yeah I hope it does not end up like that. I am pretty sure it is the pinion bearing that is making noise. Hope it last til I have the money...

Mine is making the same noise. Its like a howling noise and is louder when you first give and let off throttle. I am sure it is the pinion bearing and have been qouted near 600 to have it fixed.

I came to the same conclusion. I am going to see how long she holds and then put in the TruTrac and some 4:10's.
