gut pics of my whiny ass, fluid drippin, clunky ass rear end

i put the nut on and it went from turning easily to bottomed out, so i went ahead and put about 30 ft lbs on it lol. no more leak, no more howl, and it rolls forward on its own downhill after reverse...also no more clunking when going from reverse to drive. it feels back stock again! i still need to get it up on a jack and turn the yoke to see how hard it is, but everything feels perfect right now. theres still the expected play in the rear end when going from r to d so i dont think i over tightened it with the 30ish lbs. i think i can roll on it for a while until i get up enough cash to pay to have it done. i hate modding on credit lol.

Start saving your lunch money and get axis to set you up, or maybe get him to check it out he may be able to patch it to last a good while longer I wouldnt trust your redneck mechanics, it owuld suck to get stuck on the side of the road in the middle of no where. My truck has done that to me one too many times.

im serously not worried about it. everything inside looked perfect other than the gouges in the carrier. no chips, cracks, hairlines or anything in the ring or pinion...the freakin yoke was wobblin around it was so loose. now its back to stock whisper quiet, feels perfect etc. i know my bearings are guna be cooked soon, but as far as the gears/backlash etc im comfortable with it.
maybe when i change the fluid back ill paint some of the teeth on the ring and spin it and see where its wearing at.

If it went from spining smooth to bottomed out then your crush sleve got crushed more with driving with all the slop. Your brg preload probably isn't right. Don't expect for the brgs to last long. It could be 2 weeks or 2 months but probably not long.
