Default hard hi-RPM shift

Ok i got a question the 5spd in my RST i noticed doesnt wanna shift when the revs are higher than 3500. low speed shifts are not a prob.I also noticed it does it worse going into 3rd gear. Is it just the way the tranny is normally or would it seem like there is somthing wrong with it?

our trannys dont really like to be shift at high RPMs because I dont know how many times if front of a bunch of people Ive missed a gear...lol but I think I did read with the F-body cars they drill out the slave cylinder orfice or something to let the fluid get to the clutch quicker...I think another reason 3rd gear is hard to is because it such a big jump from 2nd...Im sure someone else will chime in...

how many miles are on it? If its still relatively new just gotta get those synchro's workin a little more lol.

My truck shifts fine at 6300 rpm, are you tryin to float the gears or clutch it and shift? It seems a little wierd the first time floating em at higher rpm but it's fine.

2-3 is a BIG skip on the NV3500, the gearing is so f*cked up on em. 3rd is like the cruise around town gear so it's lowered for more speed than acceleration.

well if your holding your rpm it's gonna be a little harder because your dealing with the engine brake effect, how the fck did you miss second an go to 3rd i could see missing second and going to 4th but wtf?

just a reminder, you might wanna change your trans fluid as well if you havent before.

the trans fluid is less than 3k old. nah i missed 2nd, backed off and went in to 2nd. then after that i noticed that 3rd gear was alil harder to shift into at hi rpm. I'm not that retarted that i miss 2nd and hit 3rd lol

Synchros???? may be?
Does it grind or it just won't go in at all?
If it grinds try this- start off on first above 3500rpm before shifting to second put in neutral, release the clucth, press the clutch then go to second, if it goes in smoothly with no grinding then your synchros are done.
Just something to try!!

its just seems that the shifter tightens up rigt before it'll go in gear. i noticed today driving around alil that if i back off the gas or hesitate when i push the clutch pedal before i shift it'll go in gear fine. im guessing synchros.

YEP, I wonder how much would it be for parts and labor to repair?
Since the tranny will be out it will be real easy to install a performance clutch
