Has anyone switched their 4L60e to manual valvebody?
i've heard that a large portion of our problems with these things grenading are computer related. That makes sense, because i tried to destroy my built 700r4 ( same tranny, non electric) and i couldn't. I remember reading that if you switch to a manual valvebody, and a vacumn modulator, with a shift kit, you can hold plenty of power, without issue. Anyone proved this? I really want to do this, i like to shift, and i really wanna install a ratchet shifter in the truck, and have a reason to do so ( besides looking cool, and giving me something to do while driving) plus, save myself some money, and not have to upgrade for a 4l80E. As well as save some drivetrain power loss. ( i plan on juice and boost, in the future. So yes, this is all warranted.) Honestly, i really just hate the computer controlled tranny, it doesn't act the way a true performance transmission should. It may be able to be accomplished with programming. But this seems to be a fix i'd like to do.

transgo has kit that transforms 4l60e to manual shifting no automatic so you have to move column shifter for each gear. so its like halfway there to what youre talking bout.
