Default has anyone tried to convert from 4x4 to awd??

i'll be buying a new truck here in the next few months thank god for gm eployee discounts anyways we've got an 06 reg cab 4x4 in manual tcase,4.8,auto i can get the truck fairly cheap.

how hard would it be to change over to the awd tcase?? just seems like it'd be the way to go since i'm goin fi and alot more cubes after awhile... if this proves to much of a pita i'll just buy a 2wd but it'd be nice to be able to punch it anytime and not be spinning the tires

doesn't answer your question but i run my truck in 4wd most of the time. it drags down a little around corners but is prety smooth unlike my old ford 4wd that jumps all over the place if i drive it in 4wd on dry pavement.

The C3's and Sierra Denali's NVG149 AWD transfer case is second to none. Normaly you have 62% to the rear and 38% to the front but has the ability to transfer up to 100% to the front or rear or any combination.

why not get auto-trac 4x4? Its like a 300$ option. I THINK when in auto-4wd its quite similar to the AWD when its activated. I'm sure someone knows exactly how it works. But either way, I would just get the auto-trac IMO. Push button, shift on the fly. I personally dont get the point of switching it to AWD.

i still have the 10bolt, i did blow up the g80 last year but it lasted a long time.

the autotrack is fine with moderate power but once you start making lots of power it isn't so good. the way it waits to look for slip before locking up is really harsh on parts.
