Im looking to buy this tranny for my 98 chevy 2500 Im just concerned that it may be a diesel the cast says HydaMaric 24203370 3 and the Id tag says 96-017 so I assume its a 96 4l80e any help would be great I may buy it today.

You are correct that it is out of a 96 however the cooler lines for the 98 are different if your vehicle already has an 80 in it. The only thing I can think will be an issue if it were out of a diesel is the stall speed of the converter. For the most part it would work just fine. There are some differences in the separator plate feed hole sizes so the shift feel might be a little different. Vince

Thanks so I guess Ill just throw my converter on it from the 80 that was in my truck. I blew reverse so I was gonna get the tranny in the car then flush it. Think Ill have any issues with contaminents? Also know which lines go where? I do have the 98 cooler lines.
