even commanding it with efilive, is going to try to use the same, perhaps bad solenoids.

Have you ran it thru manual first and up.

Or is it just in drive.

Ive been thru two trannies that wouldnt work right in drive, but move the range to manual and they were drivable. Both had hard parts damage, no solenoids though.

Yea, manually shifting it was not working as well.

TOASTIE! Sorry to hear... clutch material will make fluid darker. Extensive driving will certainly yield burned smell of fluid. Been there, done that. If you can't manually shift or command 3 or 4, the trans will have to come out. Doubt it's solenoid failure. Sorry.

Definitely sounds like burnt clutches bro.... Try to command it and see.... Check all your solenoids since that's the easiest but I sure do see that trans of yours coming out again...

I'm a noob with transmissions. I know how to command shifts through EFI Live, but I have no idea how to check solenoids. I'm not worried about dropping the trans, but I have to be up at school on the 12th so it has to be a quick fix.

EDIT-Anybody ever fixed a 3-4 clutch pack themselves? I may have to do that if no one around me can work on my transmission

Built 408 is probably your best bet... I don't think he is too terribly far from you either...

Unplug the harness from the trans, The drive if the 3-4 clutch set is in tact the truck should start out in third gear if it not the truck will start in first gear,

There is not a solenoid in common with 3rd and 4th gears, so that rules a solenoid out. Try what performabuilt mentioned, just for assurance.

Alright fellas a bit of an update.

I got a better look at the tranny fluid today(last night it was getting dark), and the fluid is definitely brown.

I guess it's good that there were no shavings in the pan, but it looks like you all were right.

Do you guys have any recommendations on which setup to go with this time? I went with the Alto 3-4 9 clutch pack and obviously that didn't seem to hold up too well.

I'm only making 325-350 rwhp right now so I'm at a loss why it burned up, but if anyone has any input I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks
