HELP tranny just died!!! What went out?

HELP tranny just died!!! What went out?
Ok well i went to grab some food just a few mins ago. I was in my neighborhood when it went out on me so only had to push for about a 1/8mile but damn is that **** heavy.
Anyway i take off from the STOP sign and at about 20ish mph it goes to shift from first to second.Only it revs up and doesn't shift.
I'm ok WTF!!!!! I try every gear manually it does nothing at all will not move any gear.
Regardless of where the shifter is aka gear it's in even park whatever it is making a noise.Not a good one.
It sounds kinda like a card in spokes on a bike. But louder and more rattle like if ya understand what i'm saying.
I'm not sure what went out but not a single gear moves it just get the noise at all times.
So anybody know what it could be?

no ..i was so dissapointed that i didnt open it up to see what broke but did take off the pan and found 1 chunk of a broke piece in there...no lil or ground up pieces thou...

does it make a quiet whine?? if so thats what happend to mine..the splines that the input shaft go into a some kind of drum strips out..ill get pics of mine tomorrow and some one can tell me what it is exsactly
