Help with waking truck up from a stop please
First off....still new here. only posted in the tuning forum until this one.
I have a 07 new body style crew cab with a 5.3. It is stock except for a Black Bear Tune and 22" wheels. It is still a dog from a stand still until 2500ish rpms and then it will move. What would you do to wake it up? My RPO codes are GT4 G80 so I have 3.73 Posi correct?
I am assuming gears but dont want to kill my mileage as I drive 30 miles highway to and from work 5 days a week. Would 4.10s do the trick?
Thanks for your help.

Gears would help no doubt, but also a different torque converter will help as well. I put a 3200 circle d converter in my truck and it made a huge difference. I really dont have the money to re-gear the front and rear so Ill just live with the 3.42s.
If I bought another truck like mine again, the very 1st mods would be a converter(and a tune of course )

Thanks for the help.
I actually have Pacesetters, tru cool tranny cooler, and a Volant CAI on the way. Still need to decide on a Cat Back setup though.
What do you think would be the optimum Circle-D and gears would be?

Let's say that you have or get a 31" tall tire, then I'd probably go with the 3200 converter that I mentioned above, 4.10 to 4.30 gears (I want 4.10's to go with my 31" tall wheel/tire combo), and maybe a mild Comp 212/218, or Crane 210/218, or a 214/220 style cam, so that when the converter flashes up, there's some meat in the powerband to get you moving.

I dont really want to get rid of the wheels....they look so damn good on the truck.
I measured them a while ago and from what I remember they are 31.5" tall. I will look into the 3200 circle D.
How can I figure out what RPM I would be spinning with 4.10s vs the 3.73s that I have.
Thanks again for the help.
