How easily is the torque converter supposed to spin?
Ok guys, I'm having a shitty time with this tranny. I can't get my yank ss3200 to seat all the way in my tranny.
My question is: How easily is the converter supposed to be able to spin? I ask because my stock converter and stock tranny spin easily. My new tranny(brand new almost everything) and converter is pretty hard to spin. It takes a good push with one hand to get it to move.
So my question is, is there anything I'm doing wrong? Maybe a messed up install. I think the install is very solid. My builder has built tons of 4l60e's and is very competent.
So let me know if a firm spinning torque converter is normal and if there's an easier way to get it seated right.
Thanks
Oh and I lost about 4 hours because of this:
7 stitches and $240 later. My ******* hand slipped trying ot seat this converter and I sliced it on the tranny bellhousing plug

Gah man!!!
sounds like you got some of my luck!!
Did you put any fluid in the TC??
All of mine, i could spin them with my pinky finger.
and remember to put some fluid on the hub so that it wont leak at that seal.

Ouch... that looks like it stung a bit. I angled the trans upward ~30 deg (usually sat the bellhousing on my lap facing me) for the install. I dunno if not filling the TC with fluid prior to install would make a difference with how easily it spins on the input shaft (may be wrong on this).

i think your fine random. just make sure it's seated all the way.
trans does not have to be in neutral for the converter to spin freely.

ok well I tried putting the yank converter on my stock tranny(I have 2) and it went on easy as hell. It spins freely, no problems no worries. I put my stock converter in my built tranny and it's the same problem. It almost feels like it needs to be broken in but I can't for the life of me get the converter seated in the built tranny.
Basically:
Stock tranny-easy as hell to spin and seat converter
Built tranny-can't seat converter on last set of splines(I can get it on the first 2), and tranny is hard to spin.
