your tire height, your cam, your gears and where your power comes in and peaks at, all has to do with what stall you need

the stall determines on how fast you get to your poweband and if youre over stalled youre loosing momentum on the top end, basically your stock cam is running out of gas!!!

I've got a 9.5" PI that was reworked by Chris at Circle D. I usually bring it up to about 3500 on the footbrake and then it flashes to about 4500 when I nail it.

if its not flashing like you anticipated then your not making the power you thought you were

your converter is fine, put the cam in, and get a GOOD TUNE... and see where you stand

i had edge costom build me a stall for my setup, i told him i wanted a 3600 and it flashs to about 3500 when i get on it, alot of this has to do with were your str is set at, mines set at 2.45 witch is about as far as you want to go without loseing top end, if you have a 2.60 it will be alot looser, a hi str will net good 60 foots, a lower one will make for a better trap speed.

A good str will net good 60', and a lockup clutch will net good trap speeds.

Guess that would work too, iv just never seen much gain when locking them unless your running a power adder, just seems like it bearly makes up for the drop in rpm. every setup is different but on mine it didnt help. most likely cause of the lower str.
