How many quarts in a 4L65E?
I just got the tranny back from the shop, drove it home and checked the fluid. Looked a little low. It was showing on the stick but the 2 little holes towards the top were dry, the usualy have fluid in them. Shop charged me for 12 quarts. New converter went in as well. So how many quarts, with a stock pan, does a new converter and new 4L65E hold?
Also, I have a couple of quarts of Mobil ATF D/M, Dexron-III Approved for H specification. This is what I used in the old 65E.
Question: Since I don't know what type of fluid the tranny shop put in and won't know until Monday, is it ok to add my fluid or would mixing be bad?

I remember putting 13 quarts the first swap I did but that was a little too much so 12 should be good, but this stick sure looks to be reading low. In park, engine hot and running, level surface. He charged me $2.61 a quart, what does synthetic cost?
P.S. If you put in 12 and didn't replace the TC, wouldn't the TC hide a quart or so even after draining the tranny? I wish I had a manual
