how much can a 60e take
if you fully build a 60e would it have a chance in hell at holding 500 horse with big tires. or would it be better to go 80e? and what can a 80e with a shift kit handle.

my opinion is no..unless you are willing to pay a freaking amazing amount for a bullet proof 60...which by then you'll ask yourself why just didn't put in an 80. Even without the shift kit the 80 is damn tough. 500 horses is nothing for an 80 with a shift kit.
I notice in your sig you have an extended cab...you have a one piece driveshaft? If you go the 80 route and need to get a new shaft (or cut one down)let me know what your measurments are...I have a 4" aluminum and a 3" steel...HD shafts, splicers and all. I went to a 2 piece, so mine are collecting dust.

IMO, yes. A well built 65 would hold. You should look into an FLP or have an experienced builder put the right performance parts in it. It is costly but worth it to me. The 80 would kill your first gear especially having big tires, ex. cab, and if you have a not so torquey 5.3.
