how much are my 20's slowing me down?
I plan on heading to the drag strip this spring and was thinking about swapping on some factory 17's with 265 75 tires, think it will lower my time much over the 275/55/20? Or will it not even be worth the time and effort? A buddy has the wheels and tires that I can borrow so I won't have to spend any money to do it

It wil be a difference of about .2 in the quarter. Nothing to brag about. Usually swapping to lighter tires and rims should be reserved for reaching a certain goal not just the first trip out. Just my opinion tho. Ie the difference between running 14.1 and 13.9 is worth the change the difference between 15.7 and 15.5 not so much.

Very true, I'll probly do the first few runs as I normally drive it, and if its close to say a 14.9 rather than a 15.1 then maybe I'll try taking the fiberglass bed cover off and spare and then try the wheels

My first run in my 4.8 rcsb with ltz 20's was a 17.1, those wheels/tires weight 79 lbs. For fun all i did was weight reductions, put my 16's back on, those with tires are 60lbs each, also dropped spair tire, tail gate, bumper, towing package, pulled my audio equip, extra wiring/ batt out of the truck, a total of 315 lbs, results were my 60' dropped from 2.6 to 2.4, quarter mile trap speed went from 80 to 83, and time dropped from 17.1 to 16.4. I did this just to see how responsive my truck would be to weight reduction, in an experimental scientific fun sorta way.

It was coming out anyways, I removed my extra battery, about 20 lbs of 3/0 cable, 500a relay, and my amp which is 27 lbs. I had been competing in Usaci in this truck but figured i would start doing performance mods.
