I was only making around 320 at the crank when my 60E slipped. Granted it had over 190k miles on it and to my knowledge it had never been rebuilt. The 3-4 clutch pack went and then I got the over run clutch too from driving it around in 3rd mostly relying on the over run clutch which is only two small plates. 1-2 was still pretty stout though with just a servo. Found a 4L80E for a bargain and have never looked back.

Definately...these are a must if u plan to stay with the 60E. Some guys have had great luck, but its a fact that ur on borrowed time. EVen a level5 built 60 is really only good to roughly 400rwhp.

So I assume that the 80e is a bigger tranny. That being the case would you have to get a different driveshaft? If so, would one from an 80e work in a half ton?

80e requires new TC, trans, tune, crossmember, and a little wiring, driveshafts
