How much will a stock transfer case take?

you just have a manual tcase. it is rated at 2000+ft lbs. that would be something like 700tq at the flywheel and i bet it would take a lot more than that.

sounds good thanks. but i would like to know the part number i guess in my manual ( the gm manuals 1-5) it has like 3 or 4 to be able to work on it i need to know which one i have.

I was talking to a owner of a Drive-line/Rear-end shop and he said the only difference in the 1500 trasfer case and the 2500 trasfer case is the input shaft. Is this true?

that may be true, from the outside they look the same and the output flanges are all the same.

many trucks have the autotrack, i think that is a little weaker case. i am not sure but i think they use a skinier chain to make room for the clutch assembly.

i dont think it matters. i have never heard of anyone killing a tcase from too much power.
