Default How offten should 4L60e fluids be changed?

I have a 2000 5.3L 4L60e with 3.42s

The transmission has 150,XXX miles

The transmission fluid was changed around 100,000

My dads 96 silverado got changed around 200,000 miles and started slipping real bad for about 1000 miles then cleared up. <WHY?

Are there any other options to make the 4L60e have a longer life besides larger transmission cooler?

I started changing the fluid in my work truck by using the cooler line method at 145k. I would only change a few quarts at a time, but do it every oil change(3-5000mi intervals). The truck also has a corvette servo and blackbear tune. The trans is still doing good at 218,000 miles.

I say do a corvette servo and a sonnax o-ring boost valve(go with stock size, i think it's .470). keep it simple...

If it were 0-50k I would opt to do it, but since you have that many miles on it(parts most def warn) 50k is alot more now then at no miles (if that makes sens) Which come to think of it I need to change mine, I have about 14k since a change, but the fluid still is red, sweet smelling

I would have to agree with most on here and say don't change it. I have seen way too many vehicles come in fine and leave slipping or on a tow truck. ATF is a detergent and it seems to clean the clutches too much. Hell i did mine at the recommended 50k the first service with the filter and it slipped in 2nd for a month.
