How to pick a torque converter?
I'm wondering what the best way to pick a torque converter for my truck is? I see a lot of people ask what they should get and it seems like they're always told to go between 2600-3200 with pretty much any cam or weight truck. is it better to put it on a dyno and see where the power kicks in at? Or can I just go by feel?

engine size
mods, present and future , including cam.
Intent...what will you use it for?
For the most part, converter stall speed between 2600-3200 will still be very streetable. Anything higher and you start trading off.

I put my z06 cam in, in march and got a tune and it felt great it could burn em from a dead stop. But I put on some wider toyos and now it hooks up and bogs down. I'm just looking for something to get out of the hole a little quicker. I drive the truck mainly on evenings and weekends about 600 miles a month, but honestly it barely sees 3000 rpms. It also feels like most of the power is above 3000 rpms.

The rule of thumb as I remember it from my racing days is approx. 500 rpm below torque peak would give the best performance...however I would go with something less for the street. My PI would flash to 2800-3000 depending on how warmed up it was. I am having it tightened up a bit for better part throttle response on the street.
