Default Hurst Shifter For venture3500

Ive got a 4.8 5spd and i want a hurst short throw shifter. The only thing is that the shifter is made for the venture 3500 trans. I dont have that trans. Does anyone know the name of the other 1/2 ton trans? Anyway will the shifter fit the trans i have or is it specifically made for the venture?? help!

I 've got the same truck with the same issue. I did some research, and walla:
We have for the 05' year, a Getrag rpo code (MG5) 5 speed manual transmission. I don't think the NewVenture shifter will work. Hurst was supposed to make one this year, but last I checked in May, they didn't have one. Now Joe Gibbs has one, but it ain't no better than what u got.

WOMP womp

Speed, check out regency, see if they sell just the shifter for your truck. But my honest opinion of the hurst is it isn't THAT great. I mean the look factor is 10 times better than the factory shifter, but the factory shifter is smoother. Hurst has shorter shifts and all, but be prepared to have rattling noises come from it that'll drive you insane! I've had two of em and both of em rattled like a bitch and from what i've read about em, a LOT of em do it in trucks, esp. in the dakota's. Better off doing what stacy david did on trucks, and just buy a hurst shift handle, and rig it up onto your factory shifter somehow.

i personally could powershift my stock shifter better than the hurst, the hurst seems harder to pull out of gear than the stock one. It's gettin hard for me to hit the 2-3 throw everytime, but i guess it just takes some gettin used to

I replaced the factory shifter on my old '95 with a Hurst and thought it was one of the best mods I did to it. Yes, it was noisy, but what would you expect when all of the rubber isolation from the stock shifter mechanism (same thing that makes it feel sloppy) is gone? I got used to it pretty quickly. The throws were much shorter, and when I shifted, I could feel a positive engagement. Not the "shift and hope" sloppy feeling I got from the stock shifter. If my current truck was a manual, it would definately have a Hurst in it.
