Default Hurst Short Throw Shifter Installed

I installed a hurst short throw shifter (that is labeled for a 99-03 truck) today on my 2004 to finally see if it'll work or not and....IT WORKS!!!! lol It feels nice. Takes a bit of getting used to. Alot stiffer and the throw is alot shorter. It makes a little more noise, but thats bc i had to put 2 slits in the "noise" cushion to get to the shifter bolts. I also dont have a boot on it at all right now. The stock regency boot doesnt fit over the new assembly and i refuse to put on the ugly rubber hurst boot. I'm going to a local custom interior shop later in the week to have a custom leather boot made (like my rst one) which reuses the stock chrome ring. I def recommend it to anyone who wants to upgrade their 5spd.

I installed mine last week. I got it used so i have no noise isolator or whatever, but i agree it is noisy, but does work 2-3 shift is rough haha i got so used to the stock shifter and this is WAY different. I used the stock boot, its a tight fit but it worked.

Can you get a better picture of the noise cushion?
