(I'm new to forum)
noticed some members had documented problems with driveability (example Atomic - pwr str fade)

I see 03-05 Silverado and Yukon XL have several recalls hydroboost issues

I am converting an '01 Silverado 1500 4WD and planned on using salvage parts. My vehicle is a factory vacuum setup and has 4whl disk. Anyone have problems converting the 01 1500 4WD or have any suggestions?

Would the hydro booster from 99-02 model be a better swap? or allow use of vac pedal?

I had a problem with the HB unit applying pressure to the M/C. I hope that what I found will help someone else. Found the problem. I had originally attached the return line from the HB unit between the gear box and the cooler, this was the problem. There was a significant amount of pressure after the gear box and this was pressurizing the return line - causing the HB unit to apply pressure on the M/C. Once I connected the return line AFTER the cooler, everything worked fine.

So I would recommend to anyone doing this conversion that you either get the correct P/S pump with the 3rd connection OR you connect your return line AFTER the cooler.

Also, I have a perfectly good USED HB unit if anyone needs one, lol. (I bought another one because I thought the HB had a internal seal failure)

I attached mine before the cooler without issues....maybe your cooler is partially blocked?

Wow....I feel like an idiot. I went an dug up the diagram they sent me and guess what, rack gets the straight through. I had it backwards (my system is direct into the reservoir).

My bad guys.....

The flow through that return line from the booster is very small. A drip normally, and a few tablespoons when you let off the pedal.

Did you get yourself a HB setup Josh?

I got the new pedal and lines for mine today and will probably order the HB unit and new pump as soon as I payoff what I owe for my TBSS intake. I found a new take off HB unit and pump at a place in OKC for $140 shipped.
