I'd be at HomeDepot investing about $1.19 in a red brick. Red Bricks are tools also

THAT sucks so bad...This is a perfict example of why I do ALL my own work.
You could have done the work yourself, bought the tools, install it wrong, and rebuilt it again for less than that! Not trying to nag.... just sucks for you.

It is a damn shame you had to experience getting screwed like that and the man does not have the ***** to fess up that he was wrong. The red brick is a good/great idea but truely not worth the trouble. I wold go get a lawyer from Pre Paid leagal and go after him. I am sure you could start a blog somewhere and get a few other patrons who have experienced the same problem and go after him.

I Say Post up that Bastards shop info so No one else on here gets screwed, and Maybe if it's close enough, one of us will go punch that fuc*er in the chest so hard that next time he thinks of screwing someone, he'll think, Fu*k, that hurt both of us.

Thats an assload of money for a gear swap, but in all fairness, if they used brand new GM gears it doesn't surprise me. Have you looked at how much they run from the stealership?

My old tranny builder had decent prices on the trans, but I asked him to quote me pricing for a diff swap and he wanted like $800 for the labor if I brought him parts. I ended up having an offroad shop do it for about $300.

Asked the tranny builder why he wanted so much and he said that it was extremely difficult and took a long time to get the pinion depth and everything set right. I asked the offroad shop about it and he said that wasn't necessary cause I wasn't changing the pinion gear. You think your shop might have pulled your entire rear end apart? (hahah I guess I mean that literally and figuratively )

yep, I learned stuff like that the hard way as well.(not quite as hard as you, but..) I took my rearend to a local shop here, been around for years, everyone recommends them... So i go up there with everything i need, gears, posi, install kit, bearings, the whole shebang.. Guy tells me it will be around 325 or so, since i have everything already. Go to pick it up, and it's 440.. So I ask why, he says the bearings i had were wrong, and that it needed axle bearings and so he just bought another complete install kit.. Gave me all my stuff back at least, so I just thought ok. Get the rearend back in the truck, and it whines on coasting.. SO I call him, and tell him what it's doing, and he tells me that "Oh, yeah, all those Richmond gears whine like that, it's the way they're heat treated"..... Started looking at my reciept, and it says that I have absolutely no warranty because of customer supplied parts... Sorry for that long *** post, had to get it off my chest...

Thats just it, It COULD take all day to do a set of gears, or it could take about an hour........
How much labor was charged?
