I need a new rear end!
What kind of rear end came from GM that will bolt into my 2004 1/2 ton silverado that is 6 lug with a posi? Anyone? I plan on having 800+ to the tires when it's all said and done.

Your truck came with a 8.6, 30 spline rear end from the factory. The only vulnerable part is the factory G80 posi. Swap that out for an Eaton LSD or Detroit TruTrac and you'll have a pretty stout rear. You could always buy a TA performance cover to add even more strength if you want to.

You're making some pretty decent power, and I'm sure with more to come. You might what to seek out the holy grail of rear ends for our trucks. That is, the 14 bolt SFF rear end that comes in the new Vmax and SS 2wd trucks. They're pretty hard if not impossible to find used, but you can order everything else new from GM. It just gets pretty pricey that way. Also the stock G80 is those is somewhat questionable.

the SS 14 bolt semi floater is pretty indestructable and can be had drum to drum from gm for somwhere around 2 grand loaded with 3.73's or 4.10's
i have the part numbers somewhere and if you plan to keep your stock ds than you need a little bastard of a u-joint from napa.
The NAPA U-Joint part no. is 240-0447

no doubt, 4wheel drive splitting the torque between two axles made that live but id say you could go to about 600rwhp in 2wd on the 10bolt in a rcsb truck. but if 4wd you have nothing to worry about

Dyno's dont come close to the stress as a 1000rwhp launch. I highly doubt a 10 bolt with a upgraded posi/gears and cover will hold a 800+rwhp hooking launch more then a handful of times.
Two have tryed it that come to mind and both trucks are running ford 9".
