Default I need a selector/ neutral safety switch

I need the neutral safety/ gear selector switch on the side of the transmission. The one that slides over the gear selector on the side of the trans. I broke mine taking the electrical weatherpak connectors off. Apparently there was some di-electric grease or something that turned to glue and stuck the plugs. Damn near didn't get it off, but the switch cracked and now I need one. Someone got an extra laying around? Thanks

While i dont have an extra laying around, i feel for you.

I have destroyed 3 of those switches in the last two years from the same phenomenom you described. I think its the epoxy they use to seal the terminals (on the switch end) melting from teh heat of exhaust/tranny.

I replaced the switch and connectors when I did my tranny swap. I had the same goo in there as you do. This time I left them clean. Its got a 3 layer rubber boot on there, isnt that enough? (sigh) Maybe I'll put some grease in there soon.

I was told to heat up the connector with a blow dryer or heat shrink gun (careful) to soften up the goo and then pull it apart.

Right you are! A metal cage drop light works as well!

Yeah...where were you guys Sunday when I was taking it apart. I should have taken it off of the trans and left it in the truck. I may call you Vince I have a couple of other sources still, but if I'm unsuccessful you'll here from me. Later
