Any guesses how I could have burned up the 2/3 bands so quickly? I checked the fluid the day I had problems and it was perfect. Hooked up the laptop when it happened and temp was 160.
i'm stumped

Could the leak have caused enough pressure to bleed off while shifting to burn it?

yea its probably the little plastic piece where the shaft goes in. you might try taking it off and checking it out and putting it back together. my friends was a pain to get back on though. i used the nut to get it started

Was yours one of the trucks with the connector that was epoxied into the PRNDL switch? If it was you might want to try heating it up with a heat gun to melt that crap out of the terminals some. Maybe it will make a better connection then.

Spoolin made a comment about there being no bands in a 4L80E. Actually it had two bands, manual 1-2 and low/reverse. They are only applied in reverse, manual 1st or 2nd so essentially its a clutch to clutch transmission with the exception of a sprag and roller clutch when 3rd or OD is the selected range.

**** happens. it was put together by humans and the parts passed several hands before the builder got them im sure. call vince and ask what he can do before you send it off to someone else and void any warranty you might have. sounds like its just a faulty unit IMO

Any part can fail, even one from FLT.

I didn't think he offered warranty on a refresh. I know **** happens. Always does in my case.
Noticed earlier they called. Fixing to call them back.
I keep hoping it has something to do with the damn PRNDL switch throwing off the shifting times or something, but I don't think it can.

Just got off the phone with Andy and Chuck. We are going to try out the PN switch first. Chuck said it can cause problems if it's reading wrong so I'ma get it working right first. Gave me part number for new plugs but I'ma try to get these ones working first.
Don't want to do anything until that reads right cuz pulling it and it being the plugs would probably put me in an insane asylum lol.
I didn't want to call and bother someone at work until I got this plug going. but they seem pretty hell bent on customer satisfaction so they called me.

Worth making a note for readers. I never blaimed or doubted FLT's ability or quality. Just trying to diagnose. **** happens to me all the time so I know **** happens. I don't point fingers and blame unless there is absolute reason to.

If it's not one thing, it's another.

the second you mod from stock, the truck can and will break down at any moment. I've learned this the hard way.
