Installing shift kit how many spacers?
I'm getting ready to install my shift kit and it says 2 spacers for very firm street strip and 3 for full race and high stall converters, I have a yank sst3200 what would you guys recommend? I like a firm shift but I have noticed once I installed the converter my shifts have become kinda weak. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Also when I drill the separator plate for the 1-2 shift should I go with .082 for short or .093 full race & high stall converter? I already have a vette servo if that makes a difference.

If it were me id go with no spacers and the .082. You get it to realy harsh 1-2 shift and thats really bad on the hard parts. Especially the output shaft. Go subtle at first. The tune can adjust the small stuff from there.

I went with no washers and the mildest settings for the hole sizes. IIRC the plate came pre drilled that way and thats what I ran with. On stock tuning the adapts would eventually soften it up to a slightly firmer than stock shift on the 1-2. After adjusting the shift times and 1-2 shift pressure a little I've got it about right. At part throttle it feels similar to a stock tow haul shift and at heavy throttle it gets a little firmer but doesn't jolt or jerk or feel like imminent 4L60E death. With a looser converter you can get away with more shift firmness too. For what you're doing I would try one and tweak the shift pressure settings as needed to get the right feel.

I have always installed one washer in the late 1-2 housing with an eight digit casting number or none on the 7 digit. With both housings you still need the gold spring seat. Keep in mind that a high stall converter is only doing to dampen the shift feel but in reality the trans is still shifting the same. When you climb into the throttle the shift will be more noticeable when over the converters stall rating. In heavy trucks I normally drill the plate to the .082. HTH Vince
