Stock weighs about 70 pounds. Billet options range from 35-45 depending on diameter and lock up style. And the stocker is about a 2500 stall, but some can get it up to 3000 with some good power. I suggest our 265mm, 10.5" option for Sean. It will be close to stock, very durable with the billet setup and about half the weight....

Ok so a converter is going to cost me more than I had anticipated. I just did the math and it would take me 20 months to pay off the cost of the converter in MPG savings (this is assuming Ill even get a 2 MPG savings around town with the lighter converter). Realistically the converter will be way better than the stock piece, BUT since I am primarily concerned with MPG I'm not sure that the cost vs MPG savings makes sense at this point. I'll definitely need to think it through.

Yes but I am. And as you can see I have every intention of turboing my truck. I will have the performance aspect without destroying my MPG. To each his own. If you want to put a 13:1 408 under the hood of your truck with a 5k stall, by all means. I on the other hand have different goals in mind. And as I am a member on this site just like everyone else.... lay off me

For the record I have a turboed 02 Mustang that I can drive when I want to get 4 MPG

I had the stock 80e converter in mine for a while using the 212 cam. Works fine in my opinion. Just put in a hd2 shift kit and circle d 265mm and it made a world of difference. Drives really close to stock on the street and I can foot stall it to 3500 or so in boost on the slicks. Very nice

Would you highly recommend I put in a shift kit before installing the tranny? I don't want it to be to rough around town. Not much experience with autos.
