Default J.W. Bell housing on a 4L80E ???

Any one ever put a J.W. Ultra Bell bell housing on a 4L80E???

I was intrested in trying in it. Looking at Part# 92451LS

The thought crossed my mind because I picked up a 4L80E trans with some damage to the bell housing area. I could Weld it up But Since its damaged I thought why not see if the ultra bell is another possiblity...

So Any one know if it has been done Or has any one tried it???

I have never installed or used one of their Ultra Bell housings, but in general J.W. has always had good products and I would imagine their bell housing is top notch as well. I’ve used multiple products of theirs, such as their TH-400 forward pattern manual valve-body and was quite pleased. Hopefully someone has some direct experience with what you wanting to know, as I’m interested in their experience with it as well.

I Don't doubt there quality! I have never heard of an issue related to it.

Since this was designed for the TH400 I am just curious if there would be an issues with the 4L80E case. My understanding is that the pump bolt patteren is the same so theoretically it should bolt up.

The Ultrabell for a Th400 will not bolt onto a 4L80E. The pump pattern is not the same.

The 4L80E pump is also not flat on the outer face like a TH400 so it requires a custom made ring, machining to the pump face, and an aftermarket SFI bell.

I am machining two of them today, will post pics later.

Thanks!!!
Thats the kind of answer I was looking for!!! I was obviously miss-informed regarding the bolt pattern.

I would like to see the pictures when your done and what SFI Bell you ended up using.

Does that push the bell forward of the pump much??? Would you just shim the converter for proper engagement??? Is that the same bell I mentioned???
