Just another 80e swap
My 60e is done for. It has died a miserable death for the last time.
I picked up a low mile GM reman 80e unit that has about 35k on it. The fluid smelled fine and looked good.
I've got all the stuff on order for the swap.
Updates
12/23
1. Wiring harness was delivered
2. Front ujoint was delivered
12/26
1. Yoke was delivered and test fitted
12/27
1. Dipstick tube delivered
2. HD2 delivered
3. Neoprene pan gasket and filter acquired.
12/28
1. Pulled the pan off and installed the HD2 per the Sloppy Mechanics YouTube video. I drilled 1-2 to .096, 2-3 .109 and 3-4 .125. These sizes I gleaned from Jake over on LS1TECH. I also left out the 3rd gear checkball as he recommends. VB has been bolted back on....as the Sloppy guys say, spark plug tight.
2. I picked up a new Dorman trans pan and front/rear seals this morning. I'll get those on tomorrow morning.
12/30
1. Pan is on.
2. Front seal replaced. I added a smear of red locktite to it.
3. Converter came late last night from UPS. 8:08p delivery.
4. Trans is in the truck with 2 bolts in it. Lol.
I'm still waiting on my crossmember from Tyler. It's enroute.
