I've heard that the kumhos can be very loud. Is that just for people that dont balance them properly in the first place and dont rotate them afterwards??

i was trying to decide the same thing when i purchased my grabbers. i spoke with a tech guy at tire rack and he recommended the UHP over the kumho. shortly afterwards i met a guy with the kuhmos on his truck and he was having uneven tire wear. other than that he was happy.

i can fry my uhp's with ease. but i can do the same thing to a MT et street. i'll be sticking with the generals as long as they make them. i'm very satiesfied

Not shooting the Generals down or anything, but to your statement about your friend having "uneven" tire wear with his Kuhmos, 99% of the reason that a tire wears uneven is due to lack of rotation (every 6,000 mi or less), lack of alignment checks that are recommended every 12-15K, a bad front end part and the most over looked one, tire pressure.
Keep in mind guys, even though your vehicle doesn't pull, that doesn't mean the other major two adjustments of an alignment isn't out of specs.
These are your major 3 alignment adjustments: Toe, Camber, and Caster. Toe & camber adjustments control how good or bad your tires wear. Caster has no effect on tire wear. It only controls which direction your vehicle will pull or drift to.
Hope this helps.

Jim

Had Goodyears before the Grabbers. I am longing for the day I take them off. They will not balance for love or money. Checked alignment and rotate every 4000 miles. They are junk. 285/50/20

Part of the reason I went with Kumho. General didnt have a very good rep with me. Every set that was on a fairly new truck I got were complete and total ****.

I Never tried grabbers, But I love my Kumhos. Great wet & dry traction. Good to 150mph. not that I can go that fast. But if for some reason someone puts a supercharger on my truck for me, My tires will be sufficiant. I think they are as quiet as the stockers, and stick very well. They will be my replacement choice also.
