6.0caddy

Well i am going to the track on wed for the first time. I got a 6.0 swap. My buddy let me barrow his little g tech 0-60 timer, who knows if its even accurate. Well my times are 7.52 sec. I can get my truck to hook. I know the tracks going to be sticky. Is launching in 4WD bad news?? If not do you use 4 hi or the auto 4WD????

4hi use it everytime at the track and street mine wont shift back out of 4hi until after you let up but if you arent pushing alot of hp then it will shift into 2wd after you launch and hit the button.

is it bad for the trans. I know the transfer cases are pretty strong. What about the third member? i only have 310 rwhp and 360 ft lbs.

launching un 4wd drive is fine, just stall it up a little and inch forward to take any slack out of the drivetrain and you r good to go. I do this every time and never had a problem that was caused from it! I usually do it in auto 4wd too just because I think that it makes me a little faster if the 4wd automaticly disengages...

7.52 sound a little slow, you must not have it adjusted correctly because I have found it to be fairly accurate and I'm at 6.157 0-60 according to my g-tech. but what causes inaccuracy the most is being on a non-level surface...I have 2 different places I run, one place is for the 1/8 and the other is for the 1/4. When I run the 1/4 i tend to be .3 slower...amd that run is not level compared to the 1/8 run but it is a safe place to run so that is why I go there..

If you still have it, set it up again and make sure the wieght is close and set the pitch correction to 0.

what is your truck? ecsb? scsb? obviously a 6.0... gears?

If I can hook I run in 2wd, but I have to have sticky tires. BTW hold on, 4wd drifting can be fun, but suprising to say the least if youre not ready for it.

DO not use auto 4wd, launch in 4wd mode only.

I was going to ask this same question.
Do you think the 1/4 time will be better launching in 4WD or Stalling up in 2wd and feathering until hooked solid.
Feels like i lose a lot of power when in 4WD.

I use 4 hi all the time, as soon as my truck shifts into second, I hit the two hi button and it kicks out a few seconds later but it alwas kicks out before the end of the 1/4 mile. I can cut a 1.9 pretty easy acording to the G-tech pro RR.

Use your head it doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize why its bad to run in auto with a dry traction surface. Auto is for low traction surfaces IE mud, dirt, and ice. If you have it in 4auto, when the rear tires slip the front engages and your rear tires are already spinning and the t-case is taking all the pressure of trying to equalize the axle speed between the front and rear. Also auto4wd keeps the front hubs engaged anyway so whatever you think you are picking up is in your head IMO. Im pushing more power than anyone in this thread with the exception of Wilde maybe and have made multiple passes down the track and can tell no difference. I only run in auto mode in two conditions when its raining outside cause my truck likes to spin really easy or at the deer lease. One time I got on it hard to get out in traffic and when the front 4wd kicked in the front started bucking and I immediately let out, this is the bad situation I am describing and will destroy your t-case.
