i use 4 hi then right off the line i switch back too 2 hi, dont leave it in 4 hi. I heard its bad to go over 60mph with 4wd

I launch in 4hi and then I push the 2hi button when I am up and going as well.

Its bad to sSHIFT into 4wd over 60. You can go as fast as you want after everything is engaged.

Like others have posted. 1> Do not launch in 4wd AUTO. Especially on the street with a little rain. It is ugly. Don't ask me how I know. 2> Launch 4WD HI and then hit the 2wd at somepoint early. I have left it in 4wd entire run few times. No issue other than my ET was down and some vibration at 70mph to 100mph. 3> Launching 4WD Lo would be fun for breaking a few things I think.

My autotrak transfer case is the NVG 246-NP8 I think. When you shift to 2wd under power I don't believe the front axle coupler can or does disengage the front axle. The transfer case just stops delivering torque to the front end.

good info!!! just think ,lauching in 4 hi you can probably out launch a lot of fast cars!

I pulled a 1.92 60' in my heavy beast in 4wd, not bad for 5500 lb.

it would be sweet to see the look on a vette owners face when you hole shot him in 4wd, what kind of 60ft do they get?

I Have The Manual Shift New Process Gear 261gm, Ive Launched At The Track In 4hi With 33 Inch Super Swampers And Left It In 4hi Down The Track, And Ran A 17.0 , Lol. But I Got Some Looks, Good And Bad. My Manual Says Dont Shift Into 4hi Doing Over 45mph, And 4lo Over 5mph.but I Guess Its Just Bad News All Together When Your Going 60mph Down A Levee And Shift Into 4hi And Bail Off Into 3 Foot Of Water And Mud, Maybee Thats Why Im On My 6th Tranny, And Ol Lady, They Dont Like The O **** Handles

so launch in 4 hi then shift into 2wd as soon as you get going? anyone know how to tell for sure which t-case you have, rpo cope or something?
