I swapped the 440 for a ls1, saves 400+lbs off the 88 dodge ram,

I also run a YTX24HL-BS battery, it is a 16lb battery and has started my 6.0 in my camaro for the past year and a half, in cold weather... Just don't leave the radio of lights on long, if the truck/car sits put it on a trickle charger

I love it, before this one I have a YTX20HL-BS, its a 14lb battery, had it for a full year, I noticed slight slowish cranking in 15 degree weather, so I bought the bigger one.

And I forgot to mention both batteries were located in the trunk of my car with 20ft of 2 gauge power wire...works great.

When madman did my 4-link he said the entire 4-link kit (minus) shocks weighed less than one leaf pack. Bars, Brackets and mounting is 100% 4130 chromoly on mine.

My goal is to be 4000lbs. ready to run. But I'm a big boy at 250 lbs. so we'll see. I was 4550 ready to race with me in it before I started this "little" project of mine. The only place I added weight was the cage (not sure how much it weighs), the F2 w/cog brackets and the A2W intercooler. But, I've lost a lot of weight in other areas. Seats, rear glass, wiring, complete hvac delete, p/s delete, power brakes delete, both air bags, blah blah blah. Not sure if I'm gonna get there.

Factory lift blocks 7 lbs.
1 coil trimmed off of front coils 4 lbs (pair)
Overload springs 35 lbs. (pair)
Spare tire 64 lbs.
Swap to cai from factory 3 lbs.
Engine cover and foam on
intake manifold 4 lbs.
14" magnaflow, dumped 26 lbs.
Jack and tire tools 11 lbs.

My stock wheel/tire combo weighed 64 pounds each, I went to the hankook ventus rh07's and now they are 67 lbs each. thats on 275/55/17's. The swap in the exhaust, spare, and overloads were the biggies, and the easiiest. I had the intake tinkering with stuff and removed the foam pieces, engine covet and cut all the studs off the top to make it more visually appealing.

I plant on cutting out alot of crossmembers and bolting in factory replicas made out of thick wall aluminum, should help some.

Yeah this is a good thread. Also i posted a thread awhile back in "general discussion" about the differences in weight of a fleetside and step side bed and most everyone said stay with the fleetside bed.

I know its a lot of work, but you can remove the side windows and replace them with netting on race day...as well as the inside door trim and side mirrors. Don't need those to go down the track....rear view mirror too...onstar one must weigh a couple lbs.

Make up a track Box...basically take a box and cut out the inside, and just brace it...you'll be left with a shell...sort of like the baja trucks.

I bet a factory 16" wheel and 28" tire would bring un-sprung weight down too. The Steelies may even be lighter...its not uncommon.

Some guys could also stand to lose a little off the ponch....everyone worries about trimming weight off they're car/truck...than you see 300lb racers driving them....maybe they should run the 1/4 a couple times....
