which one and 28 spline or 30. how can you tell without taking of diff. cover?

and i want some aftermarket gears, but summit and jegs said i had to go to the dealer. just wondering if anyone has aftermarket gears that would fit my truck. thanks

it's the 7.625 ring gear if I remember correctly, can't remember the spline count. You sure as heck can order gears from summit though.

8.5/8.6, 30 spline, 3 series carrier.

More than likely, you will not be insatlling these yourself. Find a reputable shop that will give a price installed. Let them purchase everything.

This is correct. The differential and gears will be for an 8.5" 10 bolt. Make sure you get an installation kit for an 8.6" 10 bolt though. The only difference between the two are the carrier bearings.

As far as install i agree take it to a shop if you don't know what your doing. Gears are not "installed", they are "set-up"

yea i know they are set up, i have someone to do it. they just wont tell me what to get. gotta find out myself.

The pinion seal in my Richmond install kit differed from stock as well...I ended up having to get it at the dealership...
