Not trying to thread jack, but has anyone ever used competition engineering traction bars? I looked on the website and it shows they make them for a 1500 up to an 02. Heres a picture of one of there setups...I could not find a pic for a chevy.

Seriously, I have not seen anyone using that type of bar on our trucks.

I got the rear brackets built and on the truck and the front brackets fabbed and painted. the front brackets are not what I originally envisioned but I think they will work. The parking brake bracket and cables on the driver side presented some conflict. I used some square tube and angle iron I had in the shop to fab a bracket that will bolt to the frame using the two existing 1/2" holes just behind the rear cab mounts.

Here are a few pics of the longbars I fabbed up and installed over the weekend. I went to the track yesterday to test them out only to find one of the wheels my slicks were mounted on had a crack in it so I had to run on Nittos. I really could not make a comparative analysis with the Nittos other than I did not experience any wheel hop which I did have last time I tried Nittos. I could not tell any benifit or ill effects on the street. I guess the real test will be at STS this weekend.
Materials used were 2-48" sticks of 1.25" .120 wall mild steel tubing, 2-RH & 2-LH 3/4" rod ends and tube inserts, 3/16" plate, 4-3/4" grade 8 bolts/nuts/washers, 4-1/2" bolts/nuts/washers, 1.5" square tube adn 1.25" angle. You will have to excuse the crude frount mounts but that was the material I had in the garage and I was having a hard time thinking of something to get around the parking brake cable bracket. The square tube is reinforced with angle along the entire length of the front side and boxed in around the mounting hole on the bottom. I plan to add another piece of angle to bolt to the bottom of the frame for extra support. As the sit on the truck, the full length of the bars are 42" center to center.
