nada today...
shop its at had the spare lift tied up so we couldn't work on the cross-member...
all the jacks were being used so I couldn't even put the couple bolts in or route the wires I needed to route...
gotta work the 1st & 2nd job tomorrow...so I guess it'll be Thursday...unfortunately, the y-pipe modifications will probably not be completed Thursday...

this freakin' u-joint!
I took the #235 "Super Strength" back and compared it to the stock replacement #534G...sure enough, the grooves were slightly more outward on the #235...so, I got the #534G...
the grooves on this one are STILL too outward!
even if you squeeze the caps in as far as you can...
the ears on the stock yoke and the new one are dead on...the same inside dimensions...inside and out...stock joint and these are same overall width including the caps too...its just the grooves...
I guess I'm gonna have to take the yoke and DS to the DS shop where I got the new yoke and have them put a joint in them...and yes...I did slip the yoke in the tranny today before I go and have it put on the DS...that would really suck to go have it assembled and then the yoke not even fit...
I don't get it...
this is the yoke I bought (not where I got it):
http://www.actionmachineinc.com/gm3r...r-3-9161x.aspx
the joint is shown as well...this Spicer joint crosses to the same Precision joint I bought...which is also the stock replacement joint for the truck...???

well...
everyone involved was wrong...
joints WERE correct...
I took the joint, the new yoke and the DS to the DS shop, the one I bought the yoke from, today at lunch...
he said, yeah that's the right joint...
installed it on the new yoke, installed that to the DS and when putting the last retainer on...noticed the ears on the DS were bent slightly from knocking the stock plastic retainers out...
he then screwed up the new joint while removing it to straighten the DS's ears...straightened the ears out...gave me a new joint...assembled it all...all for no charge
on to the cross-member mod tomorrow...and hopefully the y-pipe mod as well...
