Looking for advice on rebuilding a NP149/NVG149 transfercase.

I'm going to be tearing apart my AWD transfercase in the next few days. I've searched around and haven't found any information specifically.

I already have the upgraded oil slinger. I also have modified input gear to adapt to the 4L80E. What I'm not clear on is exactly what gaskets or seals I may need.

Does anyone happen to know of a write up for the NP149 by chance?

I just want to get all my parts together before I tear into it.

Thank you.

Here is a PDF version of the break down and another one that gives an Overview on how it functions.

I'm wondering if I should look into buying something like this. My transfercase has an unknown amount of mileage on it. I haven't torn it apart yet. I was considering the replacement of the chain.

I guess I'm wondering what seals ill be destroying in the process to get to the input shaft.

I'm kind of surprised I couldn't find a write up in SSS.com. I though it was somewhat common to do an 80E swap over there.

Look at this on eBay:

Cadillac ESV EXT NP149 Transfer Case Rebuild Kit 02-On

http://bit.ly/Xb4nWD

The the chain costs about 100.00 and the rebuild kit is 150.00. I'll spend the 250.00 if I have to, but I hate replacing parts if they're still good.

thats the exact kit I just got for mine. I'll be swapping a 80e in my truck soon. Seems to be fairly strait forward rebuild. Biggest issue that I heard of is getting a decent set of snap ring pliers.
