Angry Lost 3rd gear on the drive home from school :(

Decided I'd surprise my parents this weekend and come home from college. Its about an 80 mile drive or so. was about 20 miles from home and noticed the tranny seemed to be slipping going up hill. Progressively got worse and started gear-hunting real bad. Finally it started going from 4th to 2nd and wouldn't lock up. Dash readout started saying transmission hot. Pulled off the highway and parked it under an underpass. Let it cool off for about 30 minutes. Check the dipstick and there's still a plenty of fluid, and it didn't smell out of the ordinary. Started the truck up and limped it the rest of the way home on backroads. Had to pull the shifter down to 2nd gear to accelerate and then nuetral to coast so it wasn't cruising at high RPM.

No clunking, no rattling, still have reverse. anything above 35mph and the engine just revs unless i pull it down into 1st or 2nd.

Burn up the clutch bands or something? Built tranny time maybe?

Only thing that sucks is I go to school 80 miles from home. I don't want to pay a shop for work I can do with a few good buddies.

just a little 60 shot. Haven't sprayed in months. Only put a bottle or two through it and didn't spray through shifts.

I kinda recall it kinda slipping a little bit in the past few weeks but nothing REALLY noticeable. Guess it was just ready to go! Time to go built tranny and 150 shot
