Default loud banging noise after park??

2008 SC 4.8 silverado.

Parked my truck, and was talking to my neighbor out side my house, we were sitting on the tail gate, after about 15-20 minutes the truck makes a noise very similar to as if some one through something at my truck. And i could of sworn i felt it jolt a little. My first thought was (have had a few small previous problems) that i dropped my transmission. Its running "fine" though so I have no idea??

My transmission is making a small clinking sound when i put it into reverse from a cold start. I'm sure its connected some how? Not to worried because of the warrenty but would rather figure it out then be stranded some where one day.

Any chance this could be the exhaust? My memory stinks, but I think there was actually a TSB about this. Not sure if it's the same type of sound, but it could be a possibility.

Or - it could be that brat neighbor kid across the street throwing stuff at your truck.

Because of my "custom" exhaust? Hmm didn't think of that..

But yeah we have plenty of those down the street. Their favorite is little "air soft" pellet guns.

the expansion and contracting of the metal could do it. Since your truck had been parked I am sure that is exactly the noise. I've heard more problems with the factory mufflers tinging then anything.
